The Queens Building, Emanuel College, Cambridge, which was the first post-tensioned stone building to be constructed.
Ketton Stone Ltd apprentices have been through a process that is also unique. First they are required to “tread the boards” of our on site works, assisting the fixing masons. In this way they more quickly develop an understanding of the importance of our craft in its completeness. They see first hand, the trials and efforts required to create large stone structures. From these experiences, the apprentices go forward with a far ­
greater appreciation of the craft than could be sourced from isolation in a banker (carving workshop). The Ketton Stone Ltd masons that these young apprentices eventually join in the workshops are at the highest level of their skill and it is from this environment they develop themselves.

  Ketton Stone Ltd’s typical workload is unique within the industry of having large volumes of highly complex works that, by their nature and content, demand that they are achieved to the highest of standards. It is within this atmosphere, that Ketton Stone Ltd’s masons rise to the challenges.

This has led the company’s diversity into achieving major new challenges and setting standards within the industry.
